Blenheim, Marlborough / Takaka, Golden Bay – March 2026 – Award-winning Canadian jazz musician and composer Mike Field is returning to New Zealand for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, with two live performances showcasing his latest album, Nashland.
Field will perform on March 11 at the Boathouse Theatre in Blenheim (7:00 PM) and March 12 at The Mussel Inn in Takaka (8:30 PM). Tickets for both shows are $20 at the door.
Nashland, released just a few months ago, features Field’s upbeat, original jazz compositions with a standard-like feel, performed by his quintet. For the New Zealand shows, Mike will be joined by four top local Christchurch musicians: Julian O’Brien on tenor sax, Theo Henderson on upright bass, Sung Woo Han on piano, and Joseph Bary on drums. Field himself will play trumpet, guitar, and vocals.
“These performances mark my first return to New Zealand since the pandemic, and I couldn’t be more excited to play in Blenheim and Takaka again,” says Mike Field. “It’s always special to bring my music to Kiwi audiences, and this time I get to perform alongside incredible local talent.”
Nashland has already received significant acclaim, with positive press coverage, radio play, and recognition for Field’s skillful arrangements and engaging performances. Audiences can preview the music with the official videos:
